3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The objective of the work of a clinical psychologist is to assess, reduce, treat and prevent psychological distress, mental and behavioural disorders, intellectual disabilities and risk behaviour. The work of a clinical psychologist makes higher demands on the person’s ethical principles and personal qualities. Clinical psychologists specialise in the following areas: clinical child psychology, psychotherapy, clinical correctional and forensic psychology and neuropsychology.

- Developing the professional methods of clinical psychology;
- Clinical-psychological intervention;
- Assessment of clinical-psychological interventions;
- Communication of information to patients and to the public;
- Professional development and cooperation of the clinical psychologist;


Competencies related to specialisation:

A clinical child psychologist
- Defining the needs of a child and family members and setting objectives;
- Clinical-psychological assessment and testing of a child;
- Planning of evidence-based psychological interventions and application for children.
A clinical psychologist – psychotherapist
- Carrying out evidence-based psychotherapy;
Clinical correctional and forensic psychologist
- Providing expert assessment in the field of psychology in proceedings;
- Clinical analysis of cases involving abnormal behaviour;
- Planning and carrying out evidence-based psychocorrection;
Neuropsychologist
- Planning and carrying out neuropsychological assessment;
- Application of evidence-based neuropsychological interventions;

Elective competencies
- Developing and providing clinical psychology services;
- Practice management;
- Marketing and sales;
- Training and mentoring in the field of psychology;
- Carrying out research in clinical psychology.

6. OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED WAYS OF ACQUIRING THE CERTIFICATE

In order to obtain a occupational certificate, the applicant has to prove all his/her competencies required by the occupational standard and by the procedure for awarding of occupational qualification established by the body awarding the occupational qualification.
