3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

A potter is a craftsman who builds, repairs and mounts heating installations (stoves, cooking ranges, fireplaces, sauna stoves, smoking ovens, grills, etc.).

Occupational qualification level III potters supervise other potters and pass their professional knowledge and skills. They are responsible for the allocation of resources and the work done by other potters. They also have to represent themselves and the enterprises they are working for, and communicate with the clients.

The potter’s work requires manual dexterity, independence, accuracy, technical thinking, creativity, stress tolerance, sense of responsibility.

Work and activities for level III potters:
1 Communication with the client and counselling, getting acquainted with the possibilities and documentation
2 Design work and planning
3 Preparation for the building/mounting of the heating installation
4 Building, mounting the heating installation
5 Repairing the heating installation
6 Expert analysis of the heating installation
7 Composing a draft of air-heating system and installation of air-heating system

 

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE (1)

Potters work in enterprises of sale and mounting of heating installations and and chimney systems (fireplace shops), or as private craftsmen.
The most common occupational titles include potter, stove mason, fireplace installer, stove installer, chimney installer.

6. OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED WAYS OF ACQUIRING THE CERTIFICATE

In order to obtain a occupational certificate, the applicant has to prove all his/her competencies required by the occupational standard and by the procedure for awarding of occupational qualification established by the body awarding the occupational qualification.
